During our participation on the GameExpo ’09 we wanted to showcase our character and environment creation skills and to create a game tailored to touch-screen interfaces.
The idea was to bring a character to life and make him the hero of a journey. In this case the dramatic goal was to reach the end of the game level by overcoming various obstacles. However instead of letting the player control Ahmed the Gecko directly, he/she can ‘only’ help him to advance through the level on his own with forming a bridge with their finger or pulling him gently on to a higher platform.
Our choice fell on the friendly gecko as main character, which perfectly fit the level design built out of objects and colorful textures inspired by rarely used Arabic patterns.
The reception was extremely positive; during the exhibition people sought out our stand to help the gecko reach the finish line.
